On Thursday, January 19, 2023 the Burlington Curling Club welcomed 20 Scottish Curlers to the club to compete in the Strathcona Cup – a friendly competition between Canada and Scotland that takes place once every 5 years. A great time was had by all with 4 games on the ice for the competition and a demonstration of 2-person stick curling on the other sheet, and a full crowd of spectators in the house. After 8-ends for all games the combined score was tied 23-23.
The competition uses cumulative scores from all games across Canada. With additional tours taking place in Western and Eastern Canada, all three tours wrap up the event at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club on February 2nd. Canada currently leads the overall event 1296-1165.
